Valentines Day

When I think of valentines day I think of many things most of which have to do with love. I think of chocolate because that is what most people get their significant others on valentines day. I also think of hearts when I think of valentines day because when I think love the heart is what pops into my mind first. When I think of pop culture and valentines day I can't think of anything particular other than your typical love song of a guy singing to a girl about how much he loves her or vice versa. These songs are usually persuasive because one is trying to persuade the other one to come back to them, or they are saying how much they love the other one and how much that person should be with them. These songs fulfill the genre conventions because they express everything that people would expect them to fulfill when they think of valentines day. They are giving the gift of song to the other person which is what valentines day involves. However, some people celebrate being single on this day which is different than what most people would celebrate. Being single could be seen as power in their opinions.
