GENRE 3

PROCESS REPORT

The Name of my campaign is The NBA A Global Game and the main point is to try to explain how the NBA has changed globally and domestically both on and off the court. The genres I made were a Facebook group, a Twitter page and an Infographic that helped display the word I was trying to get out. The audience was supposed to be to both casual and super NBA fans to try to explain how the game has changed worldwide through the years and how we can continue to change it.  These genres were perfect for the intended audience because a lot of sports writers are on Facebook and Twitter and most people use those anyways so it’s the perfect way for me to get the word out. I tried to post links and videos from the NBA because they are the reliable source when it comes to talking about the NBA. The pathos was trying to persuade people that we are a big part of keeping the league going, we buy the products which keeps the NBA going and the players feed off of us when we are in the crowd because they want us to be happy while watching them play. I didn’t use many programs except Word and Canva to complete this project. I used Canva to create my Infographic which was one of my important genres, I used Word to write down the thoughts that I wanted to put on Facebook and Twitter. These are both programs that I feel very comfortable using as I they are easy to navigate and pretty self-explanatory.

I tried to use my personal social media accounts to try to bring attention to these genres I created for the project in particular. To promote I used 2 outlets but I have multiple Twitter accounts so I tried to promote my genre on all of them as well as my Facebook. I tried posting several times on these outlets and after a while I started to make some traction and gained followers. I put my hashtag in my description on my Twitter I never put it on any of my posts. The hashtag was something I didn’t want to push because it was kind of long. I wanted the audience to know the purpose of the page without having to see the hashtag to explain it. My Facebook ended up being the most successful genre because I got a lot of people to like it in the end. It took a while but I explained it enough and promoted enough where people started joining the group and reading the posts. My persistence paid off after many unsuccessful attempts. I had to follow many people on Twitter and none of them followed me back but I tried very hard to get the followers. On Facebook I added some sports fans as well as asking friends and family to check out my page and let me know what they thought. I also asked them to add people who might be interested in following my pages. I have been promoting my genres for probably a week or two by now trying very hard to get people to reach out. When people didn’t respond I didn’t get discouraged I just switched my strategies on how to reach out to the people. I started texting people that would be interested and told them to invite other people that they thought would like it. I tried many different techniques until I finally found a strategy that started to gain some followers.

The process was different than project 2 because I had to find new resources to help me build off of. I had to use different modes other than word to do the 3rd project and the way I have to write is different. I had to condense the words I wanted to write to fit my genres. The wording that is used is also a little different than when you write a paper because there is a little more liberty in the writing style. I had to consider the audience more in project 3 than I had to in project 2. I also had to consider the appeal of these genres to the public as a whole and not just one person. I also had to consider the criticism that I might get more than when I write a paper because it is people who might have very different opinions. The most challenging thing about project 3 was that I had to compose multiple different posts so it didn’t become repetitive. It was hard to try to keep my posts from overlapping with each other. It was also difficult that I had to do all new research because my research was very poor for project 2. I had to make an effort to appeal to different audiences as well. You have to know who you are talking to when you decide to start posting stuff because you don’t want to offend people. If I could give myself advice before project 2 I would tell myself to do better research than I did. I had to practically restart with project 3 because the research I did wasn’t acceptable and it had to be redone. I would tell myself to get more peer reviewed sources the first time. I would have found more research on basketball in other countries as well as the United States. I also wish I had done more research on charities as well as the on the court stuff. Overall project 3 was great and it was an eye opening experience and a fun paper to write as it was very informative. If I was to do this again I would go about it the same exact way because I loved the final product that I came up with. This was something I was glad that I got to write because it really opened up the creative juices that I had in my head.
